Prospective students welcomed to Study in Ireland Fair, Chicago

High school students, their parents and high school counsellors – some of whom travelled from as far away as Detroit – were warmly welcomed to the Study in Ireland Fair in Chicago yesterday.

The Fair at the Hyatt Hotel, was attended by fourteen top Irish universities and colleges who dealt with a steady stream of students for the duration of the Fair which ran from 3pm to 8pm.

Many of the students said that they had visited Ireland in the past or had family connections with Ireland.  The students were very upbeat and focussed and showed an interest in meeting specific colleges, so they had done their homework!

  2. University College Cork (UCC) was delighted to take part in the Chicago Student Fair and I chatted with students who had travelled from across Illinois as well as Michigan and Wisconsin. High school Juniors and Seniors are adding Irish institutions to their college application list and were there to learn how easy it is to apply, how affordable an Irish degree program can be and surprised to learn how many American students already study in Ireland – 750 in UCC alone every year! I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with some of the students again when they come to tour the campus and check out the delights of UCC and Cork for themselves over the coming year. Why don’t you get in touch with me too?

    all the best, Caroline
