IT Sligo was recently named as Ireland’s second-ranking Institute of Technology in the Sunday Times League Table. At IT Sligo we focus on offering high quality programmes, excellent facilities and a great lifestyle for students. Sligo is tailor-made for those who enjoy the outdoor life, with more than its fair share of Ireland’s most beautiful beaches and achingly beautiful countryside. In Sligo you will find a rich and vibrant music scene to suit all tastes from traditional to heavy rock. Add to that a buzzing nightlife for students and a really great friendly atmosphere on campus, anyone who comes here to study is definitely not going to be disappointed.

Commenting on IT Sligo’s recent successes, President Terri Scott added,

‘IT Sligo continues to perform as one of Ireland’s leading higher education institutions. Located in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, we deliver flexible and contemporary programmes from higher certificate and bachelor degree level courses to taught postgraduate and research awards through both traditional and online delivery. We deliver academic qualifications in all subject areas including taught Masters and at PhD level and provide a broad range of programmes in Science, Engineering, Business and Humanities from undergraduate to postgraduate level.

IT Sligo’s International Office is delighted to announce President Terri Scott will be part of an Education Mission with Ireland’s deputy rime Minister and Minister for Education, Mary Coughlan, TD from September 26th – 30th. Destinations on this Education Mission include Boston and Chicago. The objective of this mission will be to develop partnerships with suitable US universities / colleges; to create awareness of IT Sligo in the US; and most importantly to attract prospective students keen to spend part or all of their studies in Ireland, preferably Sligo. The Department of Humanities and our Online and Distance Learning (ODL) departments already have active links with US universities.

IT Sligo’s International Office is already very active in promoting IT Sligo to prospective international students in the EU, US and further afield. Each year, we have a wonderfully vast and diverse International Student population, who actively contribute and enrich all aspects of IT Sligo’s academic and extra-curricular activities. Many of IT Sligo’s International Students have remained in touch with IT Sligo over the years; this alumni network is hugely beneficial to both current and prospective International Students. IT Sligo’s International Office also maintains a strong relationship with our graduates working abroad.

Many of IT Sligo’s alumni are working in key financial institutions in the United States such as Morgan Stanley, where they are putting their IT Sligo qualifications to excellent use.

”As an international student, I am honoured to be awarded a generous scholarship to conduct my doctoral research at IT Sligo. From Taipei, Taiwan, my academic dream has become obtainable due to the huge financial and emotional support I have received at IT Sligo.” Hui-Wen Angel Cheng Ph.D researcher Centre for Biomolecular Environmental and Public Health Research
