Recognition and Accreditation

Shannon College is a Recognized College of the National University of Ireland (NUI) and offers NUI Bachelors Business Degrees in International Hotel Management.  Graduates are also recognized by the Institute of Hospitality (IoH), the International Hotel and Restaurant Association and the Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI). As a specialized institution, Shannon College welcomes just 100 new students each year.  In total there are 402 students enrolled, over half of whom are from overseas.

Professional Training and a Business Degree

Shannon College students develop their business acumen through classes in Economics, Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and many other business areas. Students receive thorough training in the kitchen, restaurant, accommodation, food science and IT. The combination of practical training and business studies ensures Shannon graduates are capable of not just running hotels, but also of managing the business of hotels.

Work Placement Locations 2010

Relevant work experience is a key part of a hotel management degree. Shannon College students undertake two paid, professional internships with leading hotels in Ireland and worldwide before you graduate. Current students are on work placement in over 100 hotels across 16 countries, including the US, Ireland, Dubai, Switzerland, the UK and France.

Some of our current students are undertaking their final year placements with hotel companies such as Marriott in Washington and Baltimore and with Fitzpatricks in New York.
