NUI Maynooth – Sunday Times Irish University of the Year 2008 – to participate in Study in Ireland Fairs in Boston & Chicago (Sept 27th/28th 2010)

National University of Ireland Maynooth (NUI Maynooth)  is one of the leading Irish Universities which will participate in the Study in Ireland Fairs in Boston (September 27th 2010) and Chicago (September 28th 2010). Following those events, NUI Maynooth will continue on to St .Louis to exhibit with Education Ireland at the NACAC Annual Conference and Exhibition.

NUI Maynooth traces its origins back to 1795 and is today a dynamic, innovative and rapidly expanding institution with almost 9,000 students.  NUIM offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Arts, Science, Engineering, Humanities, Music, Education, Business, and Law.

Across many specialist fields, the university has won an international reputation for the standing of its research expertise in areas as diverse as immunology, anthropology, climate studies, music, agro-ecology and space technology.

NUI Maynooth welcomes students from all over Ireland as well as an increasing number of international students. NUI Maynooth has strong links with universities across the globe, especially with the United States from where almost one-third of the international students at NUI Maynooth originate. Students from the US participate in a wide range of course choices at NUI Maynooth, with courses in English, History, Irish Literature, and Celtic Studies being among the most popular choices. As students from the US do not need a visa to study in Ireland, NUI Maynooth is a popular and accessible choice for US students wishing to study abroad.

Watch a welcome video from Professor Lawrence Taylor, who originally hails from the US, and is now Vice President for International Affairs at NUI Maynooth:

Located in the only university town in Ireland, Maynooth combines the safety, charm, and peace of its immediate setting, with easy and frequent access to Dublin city centre. Also located in Maynooth are the headquarters of multinational technology industry leaders, including Hewlett-Packard and Intel, with whom NUI Maynooth works closely for both teaching and research. NUI Maynooth has a reputation for providing a student-friendly campus environment with world-class teaching and research facilities.

A stunningly beautiful campus uniquely combines medieval buildings which are several hundred years old with some of the finest state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities as well as student accommodation in Ireland – a €100 million building programme has recently been completed. NUI Maynooth provides an environment within which the student can learn, develop and mature. The focus is on ensuring that all students have an experience that will benefit them not just academically but personally as well, and that the environment is truly student-friendly.

See what some of our recent international students had to say about their time at NUI Maynooth:

 Joseph Mendes

(Nationality: American. Course: MA English (irish Literature and cultural Theory).

For me, there was really no other school that could come close to what Maynooth had to offer: world-class scholars, a beautiful campus, and a scenic, vibrant town away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin. I have been welcomed warmly by my colleagues and professors, and consider NUI Maynooth to be a second home.

Kellie Collier

(Nationality: American. Course: Media Studies)

I had heard prior to my arrival here that NUI Maynooth was known for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere, but nothing could have prepared me for just welcoming everyone is. My professors are brilliant and each lecture engaging. I completely understand why NUI Maynooth was voted the Sunday Times University of the Year last year!  The most friendly, inclusive and welcoming university.
