International Students in Higher Education in Ireland

The 2009/2010 report on international students in higher education in Ireland has been released.  New figures show that numbers of North American students coming to Ireland have increased over the last three years, especially for JYA/Study Abroad programmes and PhDs.  Figures from the Institute of International Education in NY corroborate these figures and indicate that Ireland is one of the fastest growing destinations for US students.

  1. It was interesting to read that students from Brazil increased three fold. When I attend local student fairs I always note that there is an increase in demand from Brazilian students for more information about higher education courses in Ireland. P. O’Neill, Rio de Janeiro.

    • Yes, we are delighted with this. There are a lot of Brazilians studying English in Ireland and a percentage of these students are now staying on to take undergraduate programmes.
